Established in 2006, Angel City Derby (ACD) is Los Angeles’ world-renowned competitive Women’s Flat Track Roller Derby League. Now celebrating our 12th year, ACD is entirely volunteer-run, skater-owned and operated, 501(c)3 Non-Profit Organization.

We are a group of athletes of all ages who have come together purely out of love of the sport and desire to encourage female driven athletics. Some of the skaters have chosen names like Pearl Jam, Kenya Diggit, Coco ButtHer, Maxi Mayhem, and Pixie Crush to embrace the kitsch of the old-style of roller derby by paying homage to the legacy of skaters who often adopted pseudonyms or nicknames. Despite the witty names, we are serious about our athletic endeavors in the modern incarnation of the sport!

By supporting us, you are supporting the growth of a sport supported by volunteers who believe in a strong future for girls’ and women’s athletics.

What is Flat Track Roller Derby?
This ain’t your parents’ roller derby! Flat track roller derby is a fast-paced contact team sport that requires speed, strategy, and athleticism. Flat track roller derby was created in 2001 in Austin, TX, and has quickly grown worldwide in over 80 countries. You will find Flat Track Roller Derby on any flat surface that is suitable for skating!

What is WFTDA?
We are one of the top 5 roller derby clubs in the world, as ranked by the global governing body of the sport, the Women’s Flat Track Derby Association (WFTDA). The WFTDA sets standards for rules, divisions, rankings, safety, and determines guidelines for the national and international competitions. There are currently nearly 500 teams in 30 countries worldwide competing for the highest honor: invitations to WFTDA Playoffs and Championships for a shot at the Hydra Trophy.

Angel City Derby’s charter team, the Hollywood Scarlets, have been contenders for the Hydra for 5 consecutive seasons at the WFTDA International Championships.

ACDG has 5 competitive adults teams, 8 levels of adult skaters, and growing juniors program or young ladies ages 7-17.

The Hollywood Scarlets represent ACD internationally and play against teams for WFTDA rankings and compete annually for a chance to win roller derby’s highest honor: the Hydra Trophy. They play the highest level of roller derby there is!
The Rocket Queens represent ACD internationally and play other teams in all over the globe. They travel with the Hollywood Scarlets and play as the travel B team.
The Shore Shots represent ACD regionally and play other teams in California and the Western Region as the regional A team.
The Road Ragers compete locally, playing teams from all over Southern California.
The Rising Stars are our skaters that perform in expo bouts and are the future team skaters of the league.
Angel City Fit Club is our fitness initiative for skaters who want to improve their fitness and work on their roller derby skills outside of the competitive teams.
Angel City Junior Derby is our newest endeavor: ACJD is bringing the exciting sport of flat track roller derby to girls and young women 7 to 17 years old and providing opportunities for skaters of all skill levels to learn and play in a fun, safe, and supportive environment.
