Our Mission

Angel City Derby is a group of dedicated athletes who have formed a grassroots, democratic, skater-owned and skater-operated Flat Track Roller Derby League based in Los Angeles, CA.

Founded in 2006, we are a Women's Flat Track Derby Association (WFTDA) member league that competes on local and international levels. League members empower and inspire each other as highly skilled athletes and dependable members of our community.

Angel City Derby always welcomes newcomers and aspires to build one of the strongest, most highly competitive Roller Derby teams the West Coast has to offer.

In recent years Angel City's all-star team, the Hollywood Scarlets, has been one of the top teams in the WFTDA, having qualified for International Championships 7 consecutive years since 2013.

Our Teams:

Our league currently consists of five adult teams (age 18+), divided by competitive focus.

The Travel Team is our league’s top level skaters who train as a roster of 30-35 skaters that compete internationally. The Travel Team competes as 2 teams:

  • Hollywood Scarlets (international A level) - our WFTDA internationally competitive charter team featuring the top skaters in the league

  • Rocket Queens (international B level) - our internationally competitive B-team, consisting of the additional travel team skaters on the training squad

Our Regional Teams compete against teams from all over the State of California and occasionally the western region outside of CA. The Regional Teams are:

  • Shore Shots (regional A level)

  • Road Ragers (regional B level)

  • Rising Stars (regional C level, sub-pool for Road Ragers)

All of our teams compete against teams from other roller derby leagues across California, and occasionally other teams from around the West Coast and Southwest including Washington, Oregon, Nevada, Arizona, and Baja MX. Members training to be placed on any of the teams play with the Rising Stars and Rookies programs, or may join the league's fitness program, Angel City Fit Club.

Angel City also has a program for juniors, ages 7-17, currently with a beginners program and a mid-level team, the Blockbusters. We are also home to a number of certified skating officials and non-skating officials (NSOs). The crew is called Parks & REFreation.
