Our Mission
Angel City Derby is a group of dedicated athletes who have formed a grassroots, democratic, skater-owned and skater-operated Flat Track Roller Derby League based in Los Angeles, CA.
Founded in 2006, we are a Women's Flat Track Derby Association (WFTDA) member league that competes on local and international levels. League members empower and inspire each other as highly skilled athletes and dependable members of our community.
Angel City Derby always welcomes newcomers and aspires to build one of the strongest, most highly competitive Roller Derby teams the West Coast has to offer.
Angel City's all-star team, the Hollywood Scarlets, has been a top WFTDA team for years. They have qualified for and competed in every Global Championship since 2013.
Our Teams:
Five adult teams (18+), each with its own competitive vibe. We face off against leagues around the world and across the West — from Washington and Oregon down through Nevada and Arizona, out to Colorado, Western Canada and Mexico. Newbies train with our Rising Stars and Rookies until they’re ready to join a squad.
The Travel Team is our league’s top level skaters who train as a roster of 40 skaters that compete globally. The Travel Team competes as 2 teams:
Hollywood Scarlets (Global A level) - our WFTDA internationally competitive charter team featuring the top skaters in the league
Rocket Queens (Global B level, North America West Region A level) - our internationally competitive B-team, consisting of the additional travel team skaters on the training squad
Our Regional Teams compete against teams from all over Western Region:
Shore Shots (West Region B level)
Road Ragers (West Region C level)
Rising Stars (Beginner Recreational League)
We are also home to a number of certified skating officials and non-skating officials (NSOs). The crew is called Parks & REFreation.
