Awards Received:

“I think I’ve won something along the lines of “Most involved” or “Overachiever” every year since starting with Angel City. But in 2016 and 2017, I had the distinct honor of being voted League MVP.”

Tournaments Skated:

“My first tournament experience with the team was Dust Devil in Tucson, Arizona in 2011. I wasn’t a full on Scarlet yet, I’d just been drafted as an alternate and I supported the team by helping with the DNN live cast and giving moral support. I wouldn’t see any track time until September 2011 at Western Regionals in Portland, OR where I played exactly 3 jams against Bay Area. I was absolutely terrified.

The following year, I played with the team at Dust Devil 2012 and we played the then-up-and-coming VRDL who made their first trip to the U.S., followed by Western Regionals in Bay Area where we played Wasatch, moved on to play Rocky Mountain and Rose City, and suffered a devastating 1 point loss to Sacred City in the final jam. That tournament was life changing, because the taste of high level competition playing Rocky and Rose and not get blown out of the water showed me that our team had the potential to grow immensely and I was hungry for it.

In the regular season I’ve competed in too many tournaments to remember — from Tinseltown Showdown to Golden Bowl to the Big O to Hometown Throwdown..I really should catalog them all!

Since 2013 we’ve competed at every Division 1 playoff have medaled. We earned bronze in 2013 and silver in 2014, 2015, 2016, 2017. With those medals, we qualified for WFTDA Championships and have made it past the first round every year except 2014.”

Other neat facts about Rachel Rotten:

“The first thing I do in new cities is find good coffee because I’m a coffee snob. I like to eat pancakes on game day, and I never start a game without telling my teammates that I love and trust them. “
