The Hollywood Scarlets had an amazing weekend at the WFTDA’s D1 International Playoffs. Coming home at second place with silver metals around their necks, the Scarlets secured their way to World Championships next month in Nashville!

D1SLC: Angel City Derby Girls (#7) Over Arch Rival Roller Girls (#27), 240-80

SALT LAKE CITY, UT—Game 4 saw Angel City (seed #2) face off against Arch Rival (seed #7). The story of the game was Angel City’s strong defensive three walls and well-timed offense that allowed for Angel City to take the lead and never look back. Arch Rival adapted well, upping their lead percentage in the second half. But in the end it was Angel City taking the win over Arch Rival 240 – 80. Read full article…

D1SLC: Angel City (#7) Soars Over Rocky Mountain (#10), 193-137

SALT LAKE CITY, UT – The first quarter of the game stayed very close as Angel City and Rocky Mountain traded lead jammer status and points for the first seven jams. Despite Rocky’s 287-92 win over Wasatch yesterday, they suffered quite a few penalties in that game. With a closer match up today, penalties became a larger issue as they gave Angel City five power jams in a row in the first half to let the Los Angelenos earn a more comfortable lead. At the half Angel City had a 31 point lead, and maintained about the same distance throughout the second half. While Rocky worked hard to adapt in the second half, they were ultimately overwhelmed by penalties, losing 193-137. Read full article…

D1SLC: B.A.D. (#1) Disciplines Angel City (#2), 228 – 93

Salt Lake City, UT – In the championship game of the Salt Lake City playoffs, #1 seed B.ay A.rea D.erby Girls All Stars and #2 seed Angel City Derby Girls Hollywood Scarlets delivered the anticipated battle of strength and all-but-impossible defense that was to be expected with this matchup. While Angel City put up a relentless fight against B.A.D.’s nearly impenetrable walls and matched B.A.D. in jammer strength, they were ultimately not able to outlast the All Stars.
