No prior skating or derby experience needed!
Our New Recruits program occurs twice a year at our warehouse in Gardena (Spring and Fall). We accept all skill levels, even if you have never worn a pair of skates.
Our league has a gender-inclusive policy, in line with the Women’s Flat Track Derby Association’s gender policy. We welcome trans, intersex, gender non-binary and expansive people for whom women’s flat track roller derby is the version of derby with which they most closely identify.
You must be 18 years old to join our adult league, but see our Juniors page for ages 7-17.
What to expect:
Our New Recruits program will teach you all the basic skills you need to try out for ACD’s Rookies program. This is your entry into derby or to become a skating official!
We provide roller skates and safety gear at our warehouse, so you won’t need any special gear at the start of the program. We run our sessions 1-2 times a week over 6-8 weeks, on Tuesdays and Saturdays.
As part of the New Recruits program, you will participate in league scrimmages with Parks and REFreation as a non-skating official (NSO) and increase your strength and derby fitness by participating in Angel City Fit Club sessions!

New Recruits Fall 2018 intake
Our next session begins Saturday, August 18 from 6:00 PM-8:00 PM at the Angel City Derby Warehouse (1519 W 139th Street, Gardena, California 90249).
Your first session is free, but mouthguards are required for your safety. Please bring $25 for a mouthguard (we will have a stock of unopened ones ready for you!) which you will keep for all sessions.
Each session thereafter is $15, or you can pay for all sessions up front for only $100. Bring cash to your first training or email email@example.com to organize online payment prior to training.
The program will last seven weeks, including assessments. The full list of training times is:

Week 2: Tuesday, August 21 – 8:00 PM-10:30 PM
Week 3: Tuesday, August 28 – 8:00 PM-10:30 PM
