Angel of the Month, August – Nnegratron!

This month’s Angel hails from the planet Cybertron. Like her namesakes, this skater/ trainer/ volunteer is “more than meets the eye”. A Decepticon on the track and pure Autobot off the track, Angel City Derby’s August Angel of the month is Nnegratron!

NnegratronNnegratron started playing roller derby in 2011 and is now in her eighth season. She transferred to Angel City in January 2014 from Grand Raggity Roller Derby in Grand Rapids, Michigan. We are so glad that she did! Nnegratron has given so much to our league and continues to contribute every day. Affectionately referred to as “Nnegs” by her friends, she started as a Rising Star at ACD and quickly moved up to the Rocket Queens after tryouts. Nnegratron plays all positions; blocker, pivot and jammer, with her current team the surly Shore Shots! She uses her speed, agility, and let’s face it, her super long legs to best everyone on the track.

Devoted to the future and growth of ACD, Nnegratron began training some of our newer league members this year working with the New Recruits program. Under Nnegs instructions, brand new derby players get a taste of the derby action and move onto Rookies with new skills and fearlessness. Just as lucky are the The Rising Stars and Road Ragers who also get her as a trainer. Encouraging and patient, Nnegs takes her time to break down even the most complicated drills and ensures everyone moves forward with confidence and clear understanding.

NnegratronIn addition to training, Nnegs has had so many jobs within the league she really is part of the fabric of our community. She worked as assistant to the Steering Committee and has been a Member Advocate; working to resolve issues or conflict between league members. Most recently she has taken over as the Merchandise Manager and is quickly working with her team to streamline and revamp our awesome merch committee. You may also recognize Nnegratron as one of the beaming faces of our awesome sponsor, Superfit Hero!

We are so grateful for Nneg’s devotion and commitment to making our league, our members and roller derby the best it can be. She truly “transforms” every task she takes on into a success and we are thankful she wears red and gold!

Don’t miss Nnegratron and her team The Shore Shots in action at ACD’s next home game on August 11, 2018 at Culver City Veterans Auditorium in Culver City, CA.
