Angel of the Month, August – Decider!

Delightful. Decisive. Devoted. Dedicated. Determined. Dependable. Deserving. Decider.

Angel City Derby’s August 2017 Angel of the Month is the incomparable Decider! As our resident go-to, we are extremely reliant upon her knowledge of all things Angel City Derby, roller derby in general, and common sense realness! The only thing that may rival her boundless wisdom and experience is her humility and kind heart.

Decider has her hands in so many aspects of roller derby that you probably already know and love her. She effectively manages multiple roles across many derby disciplines. She has recently become a member of Angel City’s Board of Directors as the Finance Pillar Head. Decider has almost single handedly housed and organized all of Angel City’s merchandise, which is no easy task. She also works as the volunteer coordinator for all ACD events. Decider’s desire to lend a helping hand wherever there is a need has led her to Co-Coach and help revamp our Freshmeat Program. Decider is also the liaison for Parks and Refreation’s “Nerd Crew,” which is an introduction to our new recruits or other potential league members to learn the rules of WFTDA flat track roller derby while meeting league members and having fun!

Have we mentioned that she is also a Non-skating Official (NSO) extraordinaire? Decider serves as official for all Angel City home games. She has also been selected to officiate Division 1 Playoffs and delivers NSO Realness™ every year since 2013. Decider has recently been selected to officiate D1 Playoffs in Seattle, Washington and the Roller Derby Word Cup in Manchester, England in February 2018.

In addition to her work within Angel City, she also donates her time outside of the league to the greater derby community. She is the Manager of Registration and the Social Media Assistant for the annual international roller derby convention, Rollercon, as well as the administrator for several other roller derby social media groups. Her knowledge and organization make her the expert oracle for many subgroups within the derby community.

How does she do it all? We honestly have no idea. But she does it with patience, kindness, and the kind of common sense you just can’t buy. Thank you, Decider, for being the most valuable player of our league and our hearts.

To see Decider and the rest of the Angel City Derby in action, join us Saturday August 5 in Culver City!
