Angel of the Month December – Los Angry-Lez

Our Angel of the Month for December 2016 is Los Angry-Lez! Los Angry-Lez (or L.A. for short) joined ACDG’s Parks and REFrication crew as a Non-Skating Official (NSO) from The Northside Rollers of Melbourne in Victoria, Australia. LA earned her Level 2 NSO certification in August 2014, qualifying her to NSO the highest level of roller derby in the WFTDA.

Impressively, L.A. has officiated some of the highest level of game play at Division I Playoffs for the past three years. She was one of three NSO Crew Heads at Division I Playoffs in 2015, and worked both the 2015 and 2016 WFTDA International Championships. L.A. has created an impressive resume as a Crew Head in international derby competition, including The Great Southern Slam and the TropiCarnage Cup in Australia, and the first ever WFTDA European Tournament in 2014.

When L.A. is not NSO-ing Angel City practices or WFTDA sanctioned games and being a ridiculously knowledgeable NSO, she is not as angry as her name suggests and gives lots of love and support to fellow league members.

On February 1, 2016, L.A. was granted her Penalty Management Endorsement. She is one of only a few officials in the entire world to be granted this designation. Angel City Derby and our officiating crew, Parks & REFreation, are so proud to call her one of our own. Congratulations, L.A.!

Want to learn to be an NSO like L.A.? You can attend our Officiation Camp “Get Ref’d Up” February 11-12, 2017 by registering here: https://acdgrefup6.eventbrite.com or you can email refs@angelcityderbygirls.com to find out about officiating opportunities with Angel City. Be sure to watch out for our 2017 season to see L.A. NSO in action!
